CareSouth offering $50 gift cards to encourage residents to quit smoking

CareSouth Medical and Dental is sponsoring a Smoking Cessation program for anyone who wants to stop smoking.
“Most of the time when people try to quit it usually takes a couple of times or more before they actually quit for good,’ said Matthew Valliere, CareSouth’s CEO. “This program provides resources to help make the process easier.”
As part of the program, participants will receive a $25 gift card when they enroll in the program and complete an assessment with one of our social workers. They will receive the other $25 gift card when they complete four smoking cessation counseling sessions with our social workers. They can complete their counseling sessions in person at one of our clinics or over the phone through telehealth services.
“When you ask why a person smokes, most of the time he or she will say it helps calm my nerves so the program offers counseling sessions to help develop skills and tools to cope with stressors in their life,” said Donna Matthews, CareSouth’s Behavioral Health Director.
Participants are encouraged to enroll in one of two state programs – the Smoking Trust Program or the Louisiana Quit Line program. These programs will provide participants with free nicotine replacement products such as nicotine patches, gum and lozenges and other resources such as a smoking coach.
The gift cards are available on a first-come, first-serve basis. Each person is eligible for one-time participation to receive the gift cards.
