CareSouth receives HRSA’s Quality Improvement Award

HRSA’s quality improvement awards recognize the highest performing health centers nationwide as well as those health centers that have made significant quality improvements from the previous year. The areas include cost-efficient care delivery and increasing the quality of care as well as the number of patients among other things.
CareSouth was among 33 health centers that were recognized in Louisiana. It was recognized for achievements in clinical quality improvers, access enhancers, and advancing health information technology (HIT) for quality and patient-centered medical home recognition (PCMH). It met or exceeded several performance indicators.
CareSouth received nearly $70,000. The funds will be used to support patients’ self-management goals by providing tools such as blood pressure machines, glucose monitors, and pulse oximeters; provide staff training and purchase medical and dental equipment such as vital signs machines.
“We are excited about receiving this award because it means that CareSouth is continuing to fulfill its mission of providing comprehensive, affordable, high-quality health care with compassion and respect for all,” said Kabrina Smith, CareSouth’s Chief Operations Officer. “It’s also a testament to our staff’s dedication and commitment to providing quality health care at our clinics and to the communities in which we serve.”
